A Moment can save a life!

NAPA is launching a national public awareness campaign to help combat distracted driving and to improve work zone safety. Companies invest heavily in training, equipment, and planning to reduce the risks inherent in a roadway work zone, but it all can be undone in a moment if a distracted driver causes an accident.

The WatchForUs campaign is launching in April to coincide with National Distracted Driving Month and National Work Zone Awareness Week (April 9‒13). We are asking you to join the WatchForUs public awareness campaign to help get the message out to the public that a moment of distraction can change lives forever.

For Watch For Us materials and resources, download the WatchForUs Campaign Toolkit. It includes links to videos, infographics, and social media materials you can share with your workers, friends, and family.

Please share the videos, distribute the infographic, use the social media tools, and promote the WatchForUs website. All campaign materials can be found online at www.WatchFor.Us/toolkit. Please lend your voice to the movement.

How can asphalt help save the environment?

How can asphalt help save the environment? Verizon’s intelligent network of sensors and cameras will give cities the ability to study and analyze the flow of traffic and relay that information to operations centers, who will then use it to make communities safer, smarter and greener. Cutting carbon dioxide emissions and commute time for thousands of drivers. Take a look!

Asphalt is the sustainable material for constructing pavements.

From the production of the paving material, to the placement of the pavement on the road, to rehabilitation, through recycling, asphalt pavements minimize impact on the environment. Low consumption of energy for production and construction, low emission of greenhouse gases, and conservation of natural resources help to make asphalt the environmental pavement of choice.

NAPA’s new Emerald Eco-Label tool

NAPA’s new Emerald Eco-Label tool provides a user-friendly, inexpensive way for contractors to create on-demand environmental product declarations (EPDs). EPDs quantify the environmental impact of an asphalt mix, much like a nutrition     label provides information on a food. To learn more about what an EPD is, watch this video. To ensure the credibility and accuracy of EPDs generated with the Emerald Eco-Label tool, each company’s primary/technical contact for the program is required to view two training webinars and pass a test before gaining access to the tool. For more information about Emerald Eco-Label, visit www.AsphaltPavement.org/epd. To access the tool directly, click here. California EPA Determins Asphalt Paving fumes as low priority

CalEPA began an investigation based on the State proposition 65 program in 2016. After testimony by many different entities it was determined the fumes emitted during the production and placement of Asphalt Paving Materials (APM) were to be considered a “Low” priority. This decision is a precedent leaning decision for other states to use when challenges are made about the fumes from the production and placement of APM. The Asphalt paving industry has worked tirelessly over the past 10 years to reduce fumes by the development of new paving and production equipment as well as new processes for producing APM. The fast tracking of Warm Mix Asphalt has been a positive step in the reduction of Fumes as well.
